What is an Appointment Like?

Meet with Chandra for a one or two hour session. Bring only a pencil. Ms. Williams will have a set up in studio where you and up to three other people will learn to see as an artist sees. Then you will render what you see on paper, accurately. The particular set up and what is drawn will depend on what you already know or do not know about drawing. You WILL DRAW SUCCESSFULLY during this appointment. You will leave having accessed a great deal of knowledge, and understanding how that knowledge was already within you.

Check your schedule for a two hour opening. Appointments are available Monday through Saturday, between the hours of 10AM and 8PM. Come by your self, bring friends, or join a small group of new people. (Maximum 4)

Time: 2 hours by appointment.

Children

Time: 1 hour

Price: $20/child (Maximum 4)

• Appointments can be made Monday – Friday between hours of 10AM and 8PM. Some Saturday appointments are available.
• A regular children’s drawing class meets Mondays from 3:30-4:30 at Holli’s Sweet Tooth on Square.
• Private lessons are available for adults, $50/one hour, and children $40/ 1.5 hours.

Dr. Betty Edwards wrote the book, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. Here she told the world that observational drawing is the domain of the right hemisphere of our brains. We live in a society heavily focused on left hemisphere operations. These include using language, symbols (letters, numbers), keeping time and thinking logically. The right side of the brain is responsible for perceiving shape, direction, color and light among other things.

Ms. Williams teaches students how to shift consciousness between the left and right hemispheres. In doing so we open access to all of the tools we need to be a great observational drawer. You will be absolutely amazed at the skill you have lying within you. Ms. Williams merely shows you how to use the key to unlock those skills.

For the more advanced drawer Ms. Williams offers something else. If you already know how to draw, in this class you will gain a clear vocabulary to speak about your process, which helps in the ability to further hone your skills.  You have already awakened an innate understanding of certain principles. Ms. Williams will help the development of the intellectual understanding of those same principles. You will be able to speak clearly to yourself and others regarding the fundamentals of seeing and drawing. This includes exactly what proportion is and how to measure it, the role of shadow and light, focusing on your eye’s vision instead of your minds vision, exactly how perspective works and how it can be observed and measured.
